Join Gemma for 108 sun salutations to celebrate the Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day.
The Summer Solstice marks the brightest day of the year. We will gather together at 8am in St. Louis Daycare Centre, Ramsgrange to do 108 sun salutations to mark the occasion. If the weather allows we can practice outside on the grass.
Why 108 Sun Salutations?
The practice of Surya Namaskara (Sun Salutations) honors the life giving force of the sun and the sequences are moving meditations that honor the inner light that radiates from within.
The number 108 is considered a sacred number in yogic traditions and in Vedic culture viewed as a number that represents the wholeness of existence.
The individual numbers 1, 0, and 8 represent one thing, nothing, and everything (infinity).
So please join for this special morning! It will be fun, meditative, and sweaty.
Please note: 108 is not mandatory, and if you feel you've done enough you can just rest and join in again when you're ready.
The entire practice will take around 90 minutes and will be lead & counted by Gemma. We will have a grounding savasana to complete the mornings practice followed by some herbal tea and light breakfast.
